Men’s Muscle T-shirt in Black from TEESHOPPEN
A muscle-fit T-shirt fits snugly around the arms, chest and waist, unlike a standard basic T-shirt which simply hangs loosely over the body. TEESHOPPEN’s black version is made from 100% cotton and is available in all sizes. In short: it’s for you if you want a close-fitting T-shirt without paying a premium price for it.
Here’s how it’s cut
- Colour: Black
- Material: 100% cotton
- Fit: Muscle fit, snug around the sleeves, chest and waist
- Neckline: Round
- Sizes: All
- Print: None. Just the fabric and stitching
A muscle fit isn’t just a basic T-shirt in a smaller size
If you buy a standard T-shirt one size too small, you’ll just end up with a basic that’s too tight. That’s not the same as a muscle fit. A muscle fit T-shirt is cut differently from the ground up: the sleeves are shorter and fit more snugly around the upper arm, the waist is narrower than the chest, and the shoulder seam sits closer to the shoulder joint itself rather than falling far down over the upper arm. The result is a cut that follows the shape of the body rather than hanging loosely around it.
But that also means it isn’t for everyone. If you prefer loose streetwear or an oversized silhouette, you’ll need to look elsewhere. This T-shirt is made for those who want to actively show off their figure beneath the fabric rather than hide it away. If you’re unsure whether the close-fitting look is for you, you can always start with a size larger. That way, you’ll still get a close fit around the shoulders and chest, but a little more room around the waist. It’s as simple as that.
How to find your size
Muscle fit follows a different logic to standard basics, so it’s worth taking two minutes to think it through before you order. Measure your chest circumference at the widest point and compare it with your usual size in a standard T-shirt. If you’re between two sizes, the choice depends on what you’re aiming for: choose the smaller size for the tightest fit, or go up a size if you’d rather have room to move freely at the shoulders – for example, when lifting something heavy or simply reaching up for something on a high shelf.
If you’re broad across the shoulders but have a more average waist, the cut may feel different from the classic T-shirt you’re used to wearing. That’s precisely the point of the muscle fit: it isn’t made to the same measurements as a loose-fitting basic. If you’re in any doubt, it’s probably best to get in touch with our customer service team before you place your order. It’s cheaper for both of us than having to return the item.
How to wear it
On its own with a pair of joggers and trainers, it makes for a simple everyday look. Worn under an open shirt or a light jacket in the evening, it sharpens up the look without adding bulk under an extra layer, as it’s already close-fitting. When heading into town, it also works well with a pair of jeans and a cap if you want to keep it casual but still show off your figure.
For training, however, it isn’t your obvious first choice. The muscle fit is designed to show off your physique, not to wick sweat away from the skin in the same way as technical training gear. Wear it before and after your workout, in the changing room or on your way home, rather than in the middle of a set of pull-ups.
The material
Cotton breathes better than synthetic fabrics and feels softer against the skin because the fibres are natural rather than spun plastic. On the other hand, pure cotton doesn’t withstand quite as much rough handling as a polyester blend. Wash it at 30 degrees, turn it inside out, and ideally let it air-dry rather than tumble dry if you want to keep its shape for as long as possible. This isn’t something that applies only to this particular T-shirt. It applies to the vast majority of items made from 100 per cent cotton. But it’s worth mentioning because it actually makes a difference over time.
Why the price is so competitive
TEESHOPPEN sells directly, without any extra middlemen between the factory and your wardrobe. It’s not because the cotton is inferior, or the stitching is poorer, than with the expensive brands. It’s because there’s no retail chain or multiple layers of mark-ups to add on before you see the price. The aim is simple: you shouldn’t have to pay too much for a basic T-shirt, whether it’s a muscle fit, oversized or a standard cut.
Frequently asked questions
Does it shrink in the wash?
Pure cotton can shrink slightly at high temperatures. Follow the care instructions on the neck label and wash it at 30 degrees to avoid this almost entirely.
Can I wear it for a workout?
Yes, but it isn’t designed as technical workout wear. It doesn’t wick sweat away from the body in the same way as performance fabric. It’s best worn before and after your workout, rather than in the middle of a tough set.
Does it suit all body types?
It has a close fit, so it’s best suited to those who want to show off their figure. If in doubt, choose a size larger for a little more room around the waist.
Can it be worn all year round?
Yes. On its own in summer, or under a jacket or shirt in winter. It’s thin enough to layer over other clothes without getting too hot.
